No Sound on E7100S
Posted: 19-Dec-2005 14:01

I have just completed an installation of W2k on an old Toshiba E7100s machine

We are using 2000 because of compatiblity issues with some old software we
run.

Everything works fine except I have no sound. Under device manager I have a
disabled device in that section. I've checked the BIOS and the soundcard is
enabled. It worked under Win95.

Any ideas ?

It supposed to be Crystal onboard sound, but I'm struggling to find any spec
drivers, or info.
Toshiba's web site doesn't have many details, because of the age of the
machine they have archived most of the stuff

Thanks

The Crystal Audio chipsets are made by Cirus Logic. They do have generic Windows 2000 drivers but as the web page explains there's no guarantee they'll work.
