Satellite C850-1C4: Win 8 No bootable device, checking media [fail]
Posted: 21-Dec-2012 22:22

Hello.
My name is Maciej and Im from Windsor area.

I bought my Toshiba YC182856R on 20/12/2012. I got it delivered to me today.

I started the laptop and I set it up to my liking. The system is 64bit Win 8.

When I was happy with the way it is I hibernate the system as I had to go and buy dvd to do recovery disc just to be safe for future. When I came back from the shop I started the computer but on the screen when booting message shows up:

"CHECKING MEDIA FAIL"

and after that there
Is meassage:

"NO BOOTABLE DEVICE -- PLEASE RESTART THE SYSTEM"

I did try the F12 button to make sure that it is booting from HDD but the laptop still showing the same messages and is not booting up.

Come on. Laptop was on for just two hours and there is this error already. What is going on?

Should I claim warranty for that or what?

Pls help me.

Hi

Please check if the HDD is recognized by BIOS.
It could be possible that your HDD died for non apparent reason.
So access the BIOS by pressing the F2 button while powering up the unit.
Inside the BIOS you should see if the HDD is listed or not.
Additionally you could ensure that secure boot is enabled and if the UEFI BIOS is chosen.

If nothing would help, visit your dealer and ask for replacement.
If you want to fix this issue, contact the Toshiba service in your country.
