Satelite C855 - webcam is not working

Bought my laptop two days ago, and the web cam didn’t work. Tried reinstalling the application but just says application failed to start, I informed Toshiba of this and was sent a link to a Zip driver file of the updated webcam driver all it did was to uninstall the previous webcam application that was preinstalled in the laptop.
Tried reinstalling the zip file after extracting it of course all to not avail.
Please help guys ... looking forward to a helpful reply

Do you use original OS that you got with your notebook or have you changed anything?
Is webcam recognized and listed properly in device manager (imaging devices)?

The original OS is still being used nothing has been changed apart from me installing itunes and thats it, nope the webcam is not recognised in the device manager under imagine devices,,, i have now done a full recovery to see if that works, a bit drastic I know

I have got the same problem. I did buy Toshiba Satellite C855 - 1GN a few days ago and Skype couldn't find a webcam. Toshiba Web Camera Application doesn't work. I dowlnoaded the latest webcam driver and ... it is still the same problem

I bought mine from Argos, and you'll think for the price i bought it they would exchange, no way. I had to phone Toshiba who collected it for repair, it was taken away on the 04.09.2012 and not return yet, but you do get updates of its progress as its has been sent to Germany for repair. Hopefully they will do a full diagnostic on the lap top. Not sure whether its a general thing, but I would suggest calling Toshiba to get it repaired... Im sure im not the first person to report this fault .

Just a quick update, my laptop was collected on the 04.09.2012 by Courier company and taken to one of Toshiba service centres in Germany and was delivered back to me yesterday, skyped friends in Canada and hurray it works so now im a happy bunny , everything now works and all is well ....cheers
