There are two possible reasons:
- Software system problem
- Hardware problem.
First of all you should check if its software related issue
So if HDD recovery does not work, try to recover the system using recovery disk.
Do you have one? Did you create one in the past?
If not, you can order the disk or you can try to install the system using an Microsoft Windows disk. Missing drivers can be downloaded from Toshiba EU driver page.
If the notebook would not function AFTER the new OS installation, the hardware issue might be possible and this means that further investigations are needed.
