Boot the CD or USB drive in live mode ("try without installing"), and test it. It probably will work just fine. Someone will soon post a reminder that Toshiba doesn't support Linux, but don't let that discourage you.

I must post what UndercoverLawyer wrote.
Generally speaking you can use it but please note that Ubuntu is not supported by Toshiba and you are on your own with this.

Before you do anything please create recovery DVD. It is very important.
