My laptop is an Satellite L850 as stated above and my FN key appears to be locked on.

Every time i press F3/F4 it will adjust screen brightness and I have to hold down the FN key to use any of the F functions normally. I cannot seem to turn this off.
I would just like to know if there is something that must be re-installed or a button combination that must be pressed?

Thanks in advance.

Usage of FN keys can be described as FN+Fx. With other words when you want to use one Fx key you MUST hold down FN key to activate flash cards so your question is not understandable for me.
I don’t understand what do you want to “turn off”.

Normally you have to hold down the FN key in order to get the Fx function to work. In my case it is the reverse. I must hold down the FN key in order to make the F keys work as F1, F2 etc. If i do not hold down the FN key it functions as though I am.

You can change that in the BIOS.

Enter the BIOS and you can see the option in one tab.

I also changed it while in Windows buuuut I do not remember how I did it.

Hi

I think you have used the Toshiba Accessibility Utility.
The Toshiba Accessibility allows you to make the FN key sticky.
When set the Fn key will remain active until another key is pressed.

The Toshiba Accessibility can be found in All Programs -> Toshiba
