Good day all,

I have a bit of a strange issue, the company I work for has recieved stock of the toshiba Satellite L755 PSK2YE, and a box of vodacom K3772-Z modems to distribute to our clients.

We have picked up that these modems are not being detected at all when plugged into the left side USB3 port of the laptops (we tried 3 modems on 3 ifferent machine with the same result each time)

The modems work perfectly fine when connected to the right usb 2 ports and everything else we connected to the usb 3 port works fine including old models of the modems.

I have also tested the modems on a different USB 3 machine (also using the renesas usb 3 controller) and they worked just fine.

I have notcied that if you disable the usb 3 controller on the laptop and re-enable it with the 3g stick plugged in the device is detected properly however if you unplug in and try again it does not detect it again.

Everything is using the latest drivers and firmware.

I tried to find a solution online but didn't have any luck.

Any ideas what could be the cause?

From my point of view this would mean that notebook’s USB 3.0 port is working properly and possibly there is a compatibility issue between modem and the USB 3.0 port. Maybe you should contact check the modem manufacturer support page to get more informations…

I read in some forums that many people had problems installing this modem using Win 7 64bit… using 32bit system was not a problem… someone used the drivers released for K4505 modem.

Another user solved this installing an Vodafone 10.2
1. Go to start menu
2. Run ‘regedit’
3. Open this key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class{4D36E96D-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
4. In this key, find the “Installer32” string.
5. If the Microsoft Registration Key is missing, the key has to be added manually.
6. Create a “string” value named “Installer32”, and set it to “mdminst.dll,ClassInstall32”
5. Save the ‘regedit’
6. Open the device manage
7. Find the modem with problem; uninstall it and let windows detect again (or scan for hardware changes).
