The modems work perfectly fine when connected to the right usb 2 ports and everything else we connected to the usb 3 port works fine including old models of the modems.
From my point of view this would mean that notebook’s USB 3.0 port is working properly and possibly there is a compatibility issue between modem and the USB 3.0 port. Maybe you should contact check the modem manufacturer support page to get more informations…
I read in some forums that many people had problems installing this modem using Win 7 64bit… using 32bit system was not a problem… someone used the drivers released for K4505 modem.
Another user solved this installing an Vodafone 10.2
1. Go to start menu
2. Run ‘regedit’
3. Open this key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class{4D36E96D-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
4. In this key, find the “Installer32” string.
5. If the Microsoft Registration Key is missing, the key has to be added manually.
6. Create a “string” value named “Installer32”, and set it to “mdminst.dll,ClassInstall32”
5. Save the ‘regedit’
6. Open the device manage
7. Find the modem with problem; uninstall it and let windows detect again (or scan for hardware changes).
