Satellite L755 - Webcam is not working

Hi All,

I have a few months old Toshiba Satellite L755 laptop and I tried to use the webcam for the first tiem but I get the following message:

"Web camera initialization failed. Please check your camera device and restart application or computer".

Any help with solving this problem will be appretiated.

hi,
download the current driver for you Webcame, and test it again.

Went to suggested link and downloaded webcam driver (webcam-20110531140013). Installed it then restarted the computer but still the probelm with the same message is there.

If I understood your question correctly, to start the webcam, I do the folowing:

click Start then All Programs then Toshiba folder then Utilities folder then Web Camera Application icon.

That is when I get the notice window with the message web camera initialization failed.

Also, under Device Manager, I don't see any listing for a camera.

Hi,
try this, Uninstall all the drivers related to the Web camera from the Device Manager.
Download the driver for Web Camera Application and install it in compatibility mode and check.
Follow these steps to install the Drivers in Compatibility mode:

Locate the executable file(.exe file) for the driver installation program.

Right-click the file and then click Properties.

In the Package Name Properties dialog box, click the Compatibility tab.

Click to select the Run this program in compatibility mode for check box, click Windows Vista in the Run this
program in compatibility mode for list, and then click OK.

Double-click the executable file to start the installation program.
