Satellite L755-1N6 CD/DVD drive reads scans for disk but no disk inserted

Hello everyone!

Yesterday I bought brand new Satellite L755-1N6 and I must say I am very pleased with this product.
Of course, except one thing..

For some reason my CD drive FREQUENTLY reads/scans/searches(?) for CD/DVD even though no disc is inside! This is great notebook, but frequent buzzing of CD drive is very very annoying and it's not normal.

It attemps to "read cd" for approx every 5 min (give or take few mins). I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Please, did anyone encountered this problem and do you know what that's all about?

Btw I turned off Autoplay setting, even though I think that doesn't matter anyway.
It happened at least twice while I was writing this post..

Hi

Did you notice some click sounds coming from the CD/DVD drive?
I found this thread:

It looks very similar to the issue described in your thread.
Disable the Toshiba PC Health Monitor in msconfig startup tab and reboot the unit.
Then test if the sound has disappeared.

Hi Tonny, thanks for quick response!

First I did was as you said disabled Toshiba PC Health Monitor. Well it didn't worked for me.
Then I uninstaled almost every Toshiba utililty (+except Value Added Package, Web Camera, HDD/SDD Alert+).

The problem was in Rapid Storage Technology.

With that gone.. problem is solved, no more clicks.

Thank you anyway, you gave me a great clue what to do!
