Qosmio X770-00X and Microsoft Flight Sim 2004 3D gaming

I have a new X770-00X laptop. So far, I have been able to get videos to play in 3D using the Toshiba Video Player. I have Microsoft Flight Sim 2004. The Nvidia control panel says that it is a compatible and will run in 3D.

How do I get it to run in 3D? Pressing the 3D key on the function buttons, some call them multi-media buttons, does not work. There is no hot key to turn 3D on and off that I can find.

Look forward to some good help.

Did you watch the 2D videos in 3D or did you watch real 3D movies?
From my knowledge the Toshiba video Player can playback 3D video content and can convert the 2Dto3D but this converting does not work for gaming…

I’m not familiar with the Microsoft Flight Simulator but I assume you have to check the MFS settings for that.

The 3D vision should be also enabled.
This can be done in All Programs -> nVidia -> 3D Vision -> Enable 3D Vision
The setup takes you through settings up your display and configuring the 3D glasses.

Furthermore the NVidia 3D play feature supports two resolutions: 1920x1080 at 24Hz and 1280x720 at 60Hz. When you want to play game in 3D mode, you have to set the resolution and refresh rates at the game side.

I have ran both 3D and 2D converted videos. The Toshiba player likes MP4 AVC videos for conversion. I managed to goe the flight sim to run in 3D, it had to be in Full Screen mode. It wasn't very good but then the program was never designed to be run in 3D.

The 3D key works but is there another shortcut to enter 3D mode, I've already lost the use of the function buttons (multi media keys) once.

As far as I know , no….

I've already lost the use of the function buttons (multi media keys) once.

The multimedia keys are controlled by VAP (value added package)… possibly uninstalling the VAP and installing this again would help you to get the buttons working again.

The multi-media keys stopped working because of an incorrect BIOS upgrade from Toshiba.

The program does run in 3D so the problem is mostly solved.

I would like to know if there is another way of selecting 3D other than the 3D key in case the multi-media keys, called function buttons in the user guide, fail again. It is always good to have a back-up and once bitten, twice shy. I'd like the thread to stay open to see if I get an answer to this, the second part of my post.

From my knowledge the BIOS update has nothing to do with multimedia buttons.
The multimedia buttons are controlled by VAP as mentioned by Paolo.
Therefore its recommended to reinstall the VAP.

There's nothing like personal experience. My multi-media buttons stopped working after I installed an incorrect BIOS update recomended by Toshiba. The buttons regained their function after I installed the correct BIOS, not around the same time as but immediately after I corrected the BIOS. Prior to the BIOS, I checked and reinstalled the VAP to no effect. The VAP controls the buttons but the VAP doesn't work properly with the wrong BIOS. My account is exactly what happened and may be of benefit to others who have found that reinstalling the VAP did nothing.

Now, does anyone know of a shortcut for 3D?

and possibly you used wrong BIOS... however the buttons work again...that's good news...

Don't think that such shortcut exists...why you thinking such shortcut is available?

To enable 3D you can choose this:
Start -> All Programs -> 3D Vision -> Enable 3D vision

You can also make a shortcut (right click -> choose new -> shortcut and choose the Enable 3D vision ) on desktop to this option.
The 3D button which is one of Multimedia Buttons enables and disables the 2Dto3D conversion function when Toshiba video player is running

I want another method of selecting 3D in case the 3D button stops working again, just insurance.

There is no other method…
MasterG is right: this 3D button is enables the 2Dto3D conversion function in Toshiba video player.
Either you will use the 3D button to enable the 2Dto3D conversion or you have to start the Toshiba Video Player and have to click on the 2Dto3D conversion there.
