Satellite L775-15Q - low or no WiFi signal

Hello.

My brand new Satellite L775-15q seems to have a huge problem with the WiFi signal. I've researched quite a lot and it seems many new Toshiba models have this issue, which is quite disappointing.

The thing is the laptop's signal is quite horrible, especially in my room.
To be honest, my room is the furthest way from the router.
But still, we have 3 other laptops in the house: a 4-year old Toshiba, a 3-year old Fujitsu and a brand new Dell; they all have a perfect/full/5-lines signal in my room.
Even my horrible Ericcson cell phone has a pretty decent 3-line signal.

The new L775-15q has 1 or 2 lines or most of the times no signal at all.
Even in a 4 meters distance from the router, it doesn't even have a full signal only 3 or 4 lines!

Router firmware is up-to-date. I updated the WLAN drivers and still nothing.
The power settings were already on maximum.
So the 3 solutions most proposed in these forums don't work.

Any ideas?
It's a nice laptop and I wouldn't want to return it.
xaver

Do you use notebook with battery power supply or signal strength is too low no matter if you use it on battery or AC power supply?

Hi

In most cases the low wifi signal is related to power saving settings which you can find in Win 7 power options -> power plants (currently used) and the setting in:
device manager -> WLan card -> Properties -> last tab (power management). Here you should uncheck the option called: allow turn off this device to save power.

It could be also possible that your WLan card use another Wlan 802.11 standard.
Go to device manager -> WLan card -> Properties – Advanced
and test only one of available standards: 802.11 B or G or N
