Satellite P100 - Possible Reduction in Audio Level

I have a TOSHIBA Satellite P100 PSPAAE-01D00UEN
System Serial Number: 17172416W, and until recently have had no problems with my sound levels.

About a week ago, without any known alterations to my system, no new installation of applications and no updating of drivers, I realised that the sound associated with the standard Windows sounds (open programme, close programme etc) was considerably higher than that experienced when I log in and use the BBC programme facility.

Previously, I was able to run all BBC programmes at about 75% level, or even lower, for comfortable listening, but am now forced to listen at 100% and have difficulty hearing.
Thw Windows sounds are almost ear shattering by comparison.

I know I am of the older generation, but I do not think that failing hearing is the problem here.

Can anyone assist please ???

Hi

In the task bar (on the right) you should see an small speaker icon.
Click right on this speaker icon and choose “Open Volume Mixer”.
Here you should see different volume controls for speakers and system sounds.
In my case I set the system sounds volume control to 10% but the speaker volume control is set to higher level.

Hi Tonny,
Thanks for the suggestion, but my speaker settings are already at 100%, but sound is still at a low level.
That is my problem, and why I came here to look for suggestions.

Hi

You are talking about low sound level watching BBC programs…

Did you notice the low sound using some other software or tools like Windows Media Player or VLC player?
Set the volume level to max possible value using such tools.
Run some mp3 music files or check the sound watching an DVD movie

Hi PauPau

Yes I am talking about low level on BBC progs.

I have tried Media Player and, although louder than BBC, I still don't seem to have the adjustment I used to have.
I have to play WMedia and BBC at maximum sound level on ALL settings.

Any suggestions please ??

What application are you using to watch BBC progs?
Usually you should check the sound settings there…
