Qosmio F60 - sound disappear sometimes
Posted: 11-May-2012 12:39

Sometimes without being my laptop in silent mode the sound cannot be heard.
Then I go to the windows bar and after that pressing on mute button to be in silent mode and pressing the same button again then the sound appear.

Does any one have an idea to end this think and to make it works directly.

Sometimes the mute can be enabled using FN + ESC button.
Maybe you have enabled this accidentally…

At the other hand something can be wrong with the system…maybe system restore can help…
Before doing this you should also try to update/reinstall the sound driver

Hi I checked the sound drivers through the device manager they are all latest edition.
and about the system restore I think I will get no benefit from it because this problem exists since I bought the device.

Well, if this issue appears from first day of purchase, then an hardware issue might be possible…
But system restore is definitely recommended…. Also the driver update should not be done from device manager but you should visit the Toshiba European driver page and should download the drivers from the page:
Note: both needs to be downloaded: Realtek and nVidia sound driver….

Additionally I would also recommend checking the HD audio driver driver from Realtek page directly!

Hi as I said before I got the latest edition of sound drivers for realtek 6.0.1.6062 and for NIVIDIA 1.0.0.59
and I have re-installed both of them again from the Toshiba website
and if the problem was in hardware how can I solve it

This can be solved only by an Toshiba authorized service provider…but I agree with MasterG, the recovery should be done to check if its not system problem…from my experience the technicians would also set the notebook to factory settings to check if its not system problem before testing the hardware.

That simple:
Either you will use the HDD recovery or you will use the Recovery disk… this disk should be created using the preinstalled software Toshiba recover disk creator.

How to recover a Toshiba notebook with the HDD recovery procedure

I am wondering how can I show the sound problem to the technicians because it appears sometimes.
That’s a problem… from my knowledge the ASP would test the notebook with factory settings and if the issue would not appear using factory settings then this would mean that the hardware is ok…

Hi Obaidy,

I have F60- 14Q. I had the same exact problem. Sometimes clicking mute will not solve it from one try. The problem has dissapeared now. I would attribute it to the recovery I did to the system due to another problem which did not allowme to start my computer after restart.

I hope this helps,
