Equium laptop connects wired but not wireless

Hi

I’m hoping someone can help. I have a Toshiba Equium laptop and it has been connected wireless for ages. All of a sudden last night it stopped working.
I have 2 of these laptops and the other one is working fine and all my phones in the house and consoles are connecting fine wireless so I know it's not a problem with the hub.

I try making a new connection and it says unable to connect and when I click the diagnose button it says "windows did not receive any response from the wireless router or access point.

I can use the net fine with a wired connection to the hub.
When I check for wireless connections available it shows my virgin super hub with excellent signal
I have tried updating drivers and also uninstalling the wireless adapter and re installing but this still does nothing.


Please can someone help; any more info needed just reply.

If I understand you right WLAN device is installed and enabled properly, your notebook can detect WLAN but cannot connect to it, right?
Have you tried to restart your router?

Which OS do you use?

Yes that's right. everything is working fine on everything else with my wireless hub in my household. and this lap top has been working fine too until last night. i have re started the hub. i have re set the hub. i have deleted the connection and started a new connection on my lap top and it just keeps saying can't connect but can see the hub on available connections, it works fine wired. But not wireless.
I have a virgin superhub
i am using internet explorer
my system runs on vista premium
it has worked fine for nearly a year

Hi

Not quite sure what’s wrong here with WLan but it seems WLan is enabled.
So possibly the WLan card cannot receive the IP address.

Go to Wlan connection -> Properties and check the TCP/IP settings.
In the TCP/IP protocol settings you will find the option: assign IP address automatically
This should be set to “automatic”

You could also delete the encryption settings (password and kind of encryption) on the router and could test the connection with “open” WLan. But do this only for testing purposes.

I seem to have fixed it.

I just reset all factory defaults on the hub, removed any old or current wireless connections from the laptop, then created new connections for them all whilst the hub was wired, and also reinstalled and wireless drivers my computer has on it.

…and it now seems to work.
I think my lap top was just having a moment.

Thanks for you replies anyway i will be sure to come back on if it decides to go down again.

I thought this was fixed. how wrong was i?
I switched off my laptop, and when came to try connect wireless again i come up with the same issue as before. Although now when i look at the icons on the bottom bar it says wireless unavailable.

I tried all the steps i did before to get it working but now come up with the same messages saying:
windows couldn't connect as it received no response from the hub.

Hi

Try to reset the WLan router and try to disable the encryption as mentioned by user above. Can you connect to “open” wireless network?
