BIOS - 1.30
EC Version 1.10
CPU Temperture 46% Fan Speed 53%
Hi, Just bought this laptop (5 days old), the cooling fan isn't switching off, the computer feels cool so don't know why it would be running all the time. Have read other articles saying about upgrading the BIOS but didn't want to go upgrading in case i was missing something obvious. This is a replacement laptop after the last Toshiba (3weeks old) laptop stopped working altogether. Would prefer if possible to fix this with help, rather than losing the computer for 3/4 weeks for repair, any advice would be greatly recieved.
I don’t know how do you use your notebook but try please to use it with balanced power plan. Change also cooling method option to battery optimized option. Cooling method option you can find in advanced power options > Toshiba Power saver settings.
Thanks for the reply, I use the laptop for standard things, internet, music(iTunes library not added yet), pictures, nothing too exciting!
Laptop was already set for balanced power, so didn't need to change that, so changed cooling method option as you suggested. Fan still not switching off, however the CPU temperture has dropped to 38% and the fan appears to be louder.
How about this workaround.
Set the BIOS to default settings. How?
Access the BIOS pressing F2 at the beginning.
Now press F9 to get default settings and save the changes pressing F10.
Now the notebook should reboot.
If this does not help, remove the battery and AC adaptor.
Leave the notebook disconnected for some hours. Then connect both parts and power on the notebook. Then check how the cooling modules would work.
