Hey

i have a Toshiba A665D S5172 laptop,
I purchased a backlit keyboard for my laptop as it came with a non backlit keyboard,

the laptop has the connector slot to support the backlit keyboard but i dont see the setting in the bios to turn the backlit on or off.

Can anyone guide me as to what to do to get the setting for it.
Thanks

Check this Toshiba document how to enable or disable the backlight keyboard:
http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/FAQ1A037R0000R01.htm

the backlight keyboard has to be enabled or disabled using a key FN + Y or FN + Z
This depends on keyboard language layout.
The BIOS settings does not need to be changed.

Well, I found this nice thread with pictures of backlight keyboard
http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=58628

The guy tlatocetl says that there is a new option in BIOS after the keyboard upgrade. So access the BIOS once again and check all the available options: also advanced settings.

Thanks a mill... these pictures just look sooo good and gave me the motivation to get mine fixed. Just a slight question this might sound dumb but do you know if the copper side of the cable should facing up to the bottom of the keyboard or down facing the motherboard when you plug it in? Thanks alot

The copper side of the cable should touch the pins in the connector on the motherboard.
