Satellite C660 - Cannot start Face Recognition software

When I try and run the face recognition software I get a window saying to contact my administrator - I have administration status on the the Satellite C660 laptop.

Forum searches I have found have not helped in that any time I try and follow advice I still get the same message. The laptop is new.

Hi

I think this tool is muddled up in some way. therefore the first thing which would need to be tried is a new software installation. I would recommend uninstalling this tool firstly.
You can do this is control panel -> software

After uninstallation it would be recommended to clean the registry. This can be done using an software like CCleaner.
After that download the face recognition software from Toshiba European driver page and install it again.

Hello

Do you use your Satellite with “factory settings”?
Do you use Windows logon password?

I agree with PauPau. As first step try to reinstall face recognition software and check if you can use it.

Hi Sorry but I seem to have mixed up my username and password and had to create a new one LY2! This has taken longer to reply than I had hoped.
I have not tried either of the two suggestions so far but wonder, from your comments, if the problem is that I have used Windows Easy Transfer to copy information and profiles from my old laptop. I therefore am not using factory default settings, nor am I sure how to do so without losing the transferred files. My old laptop, and desktop from which I also copied files, were Windows XP. Because of the File Transfer I do log in using windows log on a password

Now is the situation clear. This tool is not designed to work on this way and now is obviously “confused”.

This tool is tested with “factory settings”. With other words with clean preinstalled OS and it will work properly. Now when you mix some imported profiles I can imagine that there is the problem.

In my opinion you should forget this tool and use windows login password only.

Thanks Xaver - whilst I am sure your advice is realistic it is somewhat disappointing.
I wonder if I could delete current user pfofiles but still keep transferred document files? Might that then work?

Hi

The user profile documents can be found on C:\Users\your account name

There you can find the folders like My Documents, Desktop, My Music, My images, IE Favorites, etc…

So if you need these files, just copy the whole folder.
Furthermore I recommend moving all other files like mp3 or images to an external USB HDD before doing an clean install.
