Satellite C660 - keys on keyboard are not working
Posted: 19-Apr-2012 19:10

Hey all,

I have a Toshiba C660 PSC0QE, and recently some of the letters have stopped working. Well I think it happened when my 1year old smacked the keyboard! :-@
Its just random keys but the following are not working;
e, t, u, i, o, z, x, c, v, m, space bar, shift, back space, ctrl, 2,4,8,9 and prob some other keys.

Is this a common fault on these models?
Could a bios update fix this? - how do you perform this?
Or do i need a new keyboard ?

Thanks

(using this on-screen keyboard is awful)

p.s. i couldn't find an answer on the forum

Helpful
I've been having the same trouble and after trying a few things I eventually tried upgrading the BIOS which has totally knackered my laptop (same model as yours), now it won't even switch on!

Sorry to hear about that , and that's why i didn't want to update the bios - for that reason...

Hi

I don’t think that this is BIOS issue.
Connect an external USB keyboard and check how it works.
Do the same buttons work properly using external USB keyboard?
If yes, then this issue is related to internal keyboard… so BIOS update is useless in such case… you will need to replace the keyboard in order to fix this.

After reading this I think keyboard must be replaced. I agree with Tony. I don’t think BIOS update will help with this.

In such case its NOT BIOS issue if external keyboard functions properly… its internal keyboard malfunction AND you need to replace the internal keyboard.
