As a further question related to a my previous related post.

It seems that a good potential high capacity replacement battery for my NB305 is the PA3734U-1BRS.

My question is:

Has anyone purchased one of these and if so, is it considerably better/does it last longer than the original battery?

Thanks in advance
Tonny

Hi

I think you are talking about this battery:
http://us.toshiba.com/accessory/PA3734U-1BRS/

Its mentioned there, that the battery would run up to 9 hours in “Normal Mode”
But I have to say that battery working time depends always on notebook usage… this means that higher display brightness, high HDD run time or high CPU and GPU performance would decrease the battery working time dramatically.

Thanks Tommy

Yes that looks the one, although $99 seems ecxessive when there is one on E-bay currently for £9.99 + postage however;

I still can't find a definatve answer from someone who has bought one of these to confirm/deny whether they are worth it.

I remember getting approx 6 hours of use when I originally bought my NB305, and that was with conservative power useage settings. 18 months on and it has reduced to approx 4.5 hrs. Not the end of the world I agree but I would still like to start from a higher "charge/capacity" if possible.

I rmember getting a higher capacity 3rd party battery for an old Sony Via Laptop a few years ago and the difference was quite remarkable.

Therefore the plea goes out to the Tosh Forum populus:- Has anyone direct evidence of performance.

Thanks
PauPau

Well, my notebook battery died after 2.5 years of usage… as far as I know any battery will start losing the performance after being charged 400-500 times. So it looks like 4.5h is ok after 18month of battery usage.

Sorry not owner of this new battery so cannot provide any statistic for the PA3734U-1BRS

Fair comment PauPau

Thanks for the reply, i guess I'll have to take a chance, hopefully a replacement won't harm the NB and it's always useful to have a spare.

I hope this thread gets left open by the administrator in the hope that someone who has bought the PA3734U-1BRS, might stumble accross it, and furnish me with some advice.

Thanls to all those that looked & answered.
