After careful reading i am certain now that the above new CPU if fully compatible with my Laptop and now i am just waiting it to deliver!!!!!
My new decision, continuing the upgrade process, is to change my 40GB 4200Rpm PATA Hard Drive with a new 160 GB 5400 Rpm capacity. My choice and order is this: New Hard Disk
It will certainly boost up the performance and speed of the system with the higher Rpm and capacity.

However this is not enough !!!!!!! Lets try to get reed of the external usb wifi adapter.....to many cables.... when our laptop has already installed in the bottom antenna and Mini PCI slot for wifi card!!!
My choice in that case is TP-WN861N TP LINK card, one of the few in the market with full support in drivers etc......

But no this is not enough, so here we are again on e bay, to full our side PCMCIA type II slot . In that case my choice is a PCMCIA to 4 port USB 2.0 Adapter!! This might be very useful due to my system has only two USB 2.00 ports. In this particular case the cost is only 5 euros from e-bay!

Total cost of upgrade: Used CPU Mobile Intel Pentium 4 3.2 Ghz 1MB cache --- 25 euros(HT technology CPU
New PATA Hard Disk Drive 160GB 5400 Rpm --- 55 euros
New Mini PCI wifi card 300 Mb/s(internal PCI slot) --- 15 euros
New PCMCIA type II to USB 2.00 Adaptor- (4 ports) ---- 5 euros
Total 100 euros
I think it worth it because after this the Notebook will be simply an other Notebook if we add the already upgraded RAM to 1,5 GB. After all it is serving me since 2003, without closing it at night(just the screen down), working almost every day 24 hours, without even to Hypernate!!!!!!

Thats from me with a single CPU change to reach a full scale upgrade effort!!!

In order to do all the above with the proper way here is the Toshiba Service Manual for A30 Series It explains and shows everything in detail so no more help is necessary.

Please add if something i forgot to mention or mentioned incorrectly.

From my knowledge following CPUs should be compatible:

Mobile Intel Celeron® CPU up to 2.8GHZ(without HTT)
Mobile Intel Pentium® 4 (NW) CPU up to 3.06GHZ (without HTT)
Mobile Intel Pentium® 4 (NW) CPU up to 3.2GHZ (with HTT)
Mobile Intel Pentium® 4(Prescott) CPU up to 3.46GHZ(with HTT)

Yes this CPU you are referring, is the one i bought as the link i gave in the start of the topic.
Mobile Intel Pentium® 4 (NW) CPU up to 3.2GHZ (with HTT)

I thoroughly search e bay and other sites for a used 3.46 Ghz Cpu , as your last entry, however i could not find nothing available. I must add that the Mobile Pentium 4 3.46 Ghz 1MB cache CPU (with HTT) is the last and most powerful which is compatible with the Chipset (852 GME) i am wearing.

I am now in stand by for the parts to be delivered and i will notify if any trouble occurs or the successful integration.

I had run so far a windows disk check which found and replace some unused and invalid entries in the security descriptions fragment. I dont know if this will solve permanently the problem but i will watch and report any further events. I must notice however that during the installation and updates from microsoft i was running installation of other programs because my time was limited. :(
Please if someone knows what is the above system error please inform me to fix it.

After the above new hardware adds i must notice:
The new HDD is running smoothly and system is very much faster. Wi-Fi new card in the slot is coordinating very faster than the usb adapter i used in the past with the rooter.

However i have lost installations of Abby Finereader, Ad Aware, Lexmark scanner, samsung printer.....Maybe there was something in a hurry install i made simultaneously.....

I am now noticing that when i put the pc in stand by mode and i try to go to full fuction it hungs and sometimes recovers or with reboot. However as i said no more blue screens.

After the system safe fuction and restore half a day back system blue screen doesnt excist eny more.
I shall now carefully reinstall one by one all the other programs to see if the problem comes back.

As of the main topic, which is the upgrade of the notebook, the wifi pci card and the PATA HDD are working perfect and i say before the card is coordinating very fast than the usb adapter i used previously.

After the system safe function and restore half a day back system blue screen doesn’t exist anymore!!!.

Great! Thanks for the feedback! Looks like the BSOD might be created by some software/apps which you have installed.

Yes its seems that with simultaneous installations of programs some drivers were corrupted.

Now i don't have blue screen however i noticed that when pc is stand by it doesn't goes fast and sometimes not at all to fully function.

To address that problem i search the Toshiba data base for my Notebook Model (we choose archive and not satellite) i download and install the Toshiba Power Management Utility again.
Now everything are running smoothly :)

Now i am waiting the New CPU as i mentioned and the PCMCIA to usb adapter to install them.
I shall notify when i deliver and install them and of course if i encounter any new problem untill the upgrade i mention will complete.

PCMCIA to USB 2.0 adapter just delivered today! I have just installed it (plug and play in the side slot) and is working perfectly!!!!!!!

I am now just waiting for the last and most tricky piece of my upgrade, the CPU!!!!!

I will notify as soon as i shall have news!!!!

And something else, is there any chance to find compatible drivers in order to install Windows 7 to the notebook??

Well, you will need to search for the drivers at your own hand.
You will need to check the devices which are built in the A30.
Having dev id and ven id it should be possible to get details about the devices and to get drivers from the internet… maybe on chip manufacturers pages.

Here nice Howto:

Thanks for the quick response. After the delivery and installation of the CPU(waiting), i will definitely try to install Windows 7 in my system just to see it can take it!

However using the recovery CDs in the installation of the XP, i did not get the opportunity to create more than one partitions in my HDD, everything was done automatically by the CDs, which created a single only partition (C).
Is there any free ware or something else which will allow me to partition now my HDD without wiping out my XP installation on the C?

As i mentioned before Toshiba Recovery CDs i used do not give you the opportunity to create more than one partitions in your Hard Drive. To address that problem i decided to use, after careful reviews reading, the Mini Tool Partition Wizard Home edition! The Home edition is totally free and fully function allowing to create the E logical partition with 50 GB, leaving the main partition (C) with the rest 100 GB.

After all these and when i see my system running so smoothly, i cant imagine the possibility that a crash(software of hardware), might send me back to the start, reinstalling all these staff i mentioned above....

So a little bit of extra reading send me to Macrium Reflect, a total free home use program, to create back up and images-copies of disks and partitions. After this things was very simple, i have just connect a Usb external drive and i created an image of C partition (system Xp). The program is running in all windows versions and can restore the system even if it is running from the system partition(also capable of clone linux installations).

What about the case of a total crash????? In that case i created a bootable CD, with the program utility, which contains all the basic drivers of my pc(usb drivers etc), with this i will boot the system and i will choose the external usb disk and restore the Image system partition i was save before.

Problem!!!!! I try to boot and test the CD but this was not working in my notebook, whoever it is working perfect in my other notebook. I also notice time to time that some CDs are not recognized by the toshina CD ROM (i forced to use clonezilla with usb boot when CD failed to recognized the fully working boot CDs in other notebooks).
Any idea what is the proper way to resolve this???? Maybe a CD replacement???? And why is recognising some and some not???????

i have double check in a desktop and my other Fujitsu Lifebook Notebook, that the CD i created is fully bootable. I must also mention that the CD was burned in the Toshiba Notebook, which now don't recognize it!!!! I also noticed time to time, beyond the above, that in other CDs some times the CD drive cant read them, the last 2-3 years.
Is it a sign that i must replace it with a new one due to heavy duty? I don't go to a drivers problem because even if i update the drivers, in a crash scenario all data will be lost, so it must work with the bios only in order to identify and boot. My bios version is 1.80, it is recommended by the Toshiba Support page for my model.

Maybe the ODD is faulty? Maybe the laser lens is dirty and needs to be cleaned… this can be done using an cotton wool tip and alcohol. Maybe this kind of disks are not fully compatible…had a lot troubles to find the good working disks for my CD/DVD drive…finally I ended up with –R from TDK
