Got the Satellite C660-28D at Christmas as my old laptop was dying on it's feet. So far I've had no issues with it, except from when using a selection of programs, namely Sketch Up and Rhino which are both 3D modelling programs. Strangely enough AutoCAD Revit works fine, which I would have imagined would have been more demanding on the system.
When opening Rhino it allows me to select my template before crashing and displaying a message saying "Rhino 4.0 has encountered a problem and needs to close", and with Sketch Up I again get to select a template but then get a message saying "Google SketchUp has produced a bug splat and needs to close" followed by a similiar report error form that never works when I try and send the error. This has happened on SketchUp 8, having uninstalled and re-installed SketchUp 8 and then uninstalling it and installing SketchUp 7, all to the same outcome.
It's been suggested to me that it may be an error with the graphics card and that I should download a driver, but the only driver from the Toshiba website that would make sense to me is the display driver, which I have installed and makes no difference.
Please help me, I need the use of these kinds of programs for university.
It is possible that you have these issues due to display driver.
Maybe you should contact software manufacturer and ask for help. Toshiba doesn’t support third part software. Software manufacturer has best experience with own product. I presume it they have tested it on different platforms and should know what the problem can be.
I agree with the Pedro. Could be an display driver issue…maybe you need to update this to solve the issue with the 3D modeling applications…
Since the notebook seems to be equipped with an Intel HD Graphics (HM55) I recommend checking the display driver from Intel page.
