Hi

Just dealt with a virus - had to restore from restore cd - I now have an annoying splash screen trying to persuade me to sign up for symantec's norton internet security

I do not wish to subscribe to this program - how do I stop this screen loading
regards

I don’t know if you want to use Norton but if you don’t want to use Norton simply remove it from the system. My advice for you is to use Avira Antivir.

Yes. If I’m remembering well there are two Norton entries. Norton update and Norton antivir application. Check it please.
I have removed it every time when I have installed recovery image. At first I’ve removed Norton update and then Norton application. Everything went well and after notebook restart I’ve simply installed Avira antivir.

Anyway, as far as I know, Norton is just trial version and you can use it 60 days I think. So there must be some option where you can define your usage and this should not be shown anymore.

You can also prevent the Norton tool from starting while booting up the notebook.
You can disable the Norton process in the msconfig -> startup tab

In search type msconfig. Then choose Startup tab and here uncheck the Norton entries.
Apply the changes and reboot.

Should help too
