I have a Toshiba Satellite L500-01u012 and i am having issues with the audio output.
When I plug headphones or audio output into the audio out port, it does not disable the internal laptop speakers.
This is really annoying me and I'm wondering if there is a way around this?

I have windows 7 home premium 64 bit sp1 with all the latest update patches, and I have tried removing, rebooting then reinstalling the driver multiple times without success
I also recovered the laptop from the factory image in an attempt to fix this and its still nto working.

I have downloaded the drivers from the toshiba support site but they havent helped

Hello

Is this something new or you have noticed this issue in the past too?
Generally speaking by default internal speakers should be off when you connect headphones.

I don’t know which notebook do you have exactly (model number that you wrote cannot be the right one) and which sound card is inside but please check sound options in control panel.

Please take a look into this thread:
http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=256895

in Control Panel -> Realtek HD audio Manger you need to change a setting
In the top right corner, there's a little yellow folder called "Connector Settings" in my version.
There, I could finally reactivate the setting "Enable pop-up dialog, when device is plugged in".

So now when I plug in an external speaker or headphones, it pops up and I select the option "headphone" (instead of "line-in"), and then the sound comes out only through the headphones/ext.speaker.
