Thanks for response, but Only OEM disk for Windows I have is Windows 95.
I shouldn't have to go buy another OS, I bought one with the laptop called Vista.
I should be able to restore OS system from Recovery disk that I bought with the laptop, that is what I thought they were for and is part of the cost of the laptop when you buy them.
I have called Toshiba Tech Support and they have been no help. The first tech told me the 320GB I bought was too big for motherboard, went and exchanged HDD for 250BGB and got same error.
The second tech said first tech gave me wrong info and the 320 should have worked and tried to insist something wrong with Recovery disk and wanted me to purchase new ones, but know there is nothing wrong with disk as I just used them before replacing the HDD.
I called back third time as I am really frustrated with Toshiba at this point as you should be able to recover OS from recovery disk as I paid for the OS with laptop. So expressed my frustration and again they wanted to insist on me buying another recovery disk and I said ok if I buy recovery disk and that does not fix the issue are you going to refund my money and I was told they would esclate ticket and someone would call me during M-F business hours, have not heard from anyone and that has been a week now.
I have searched other forums and it seems I am not the only one with this issue and seems to be after installing form recovery disk at start up it is looking for original hardware and since I replaced with different HDD it is having issue configuring windows.
I found this info but the MS HotFix is only for 64bit:
