I have a problem with my Satellite E300 with the USB disconnecting on waking from sleep. I use a flash drive and sometimes an external hard drive with files I am working on from work. I often leave files on the flash drive open and the computer goes into standby while they are still open.
My problem comes when the computer wakes from standby because it will always disconnect the flash drive as the computer wakes up. I will hear the disconnect and reconnect sounds and I have had warnings about the flash drive not being safely disconnected. I have even had file corruption on a couple of occasions.
I can't find anything in the power settings which works to stop this. My last computer never had this problem (LG), if a USB drive was connected when it went to sleep it would still be connected when it woke up.
The USB remains connected while it is asleep because I can use my USB mouse to wake the computer but it will disconnect during the wake up process. I have searched the net for solutions to this problem, there are others with the same problem, but no one seems to have a solution which works.
Try to disable the Power Saving for USB controllers.
In device manager choose the USB controllers -> Properties -> last tab (power management)
Here remove the hook from the option “Allow to disable the device to save power”
