System is not booting, how to access recovery partition?

Hello,
While messing around with win7 and xp (from the vista that was pre-installed on my system) I've managed to make my computer unbootable.
I made recovery discs when I first got my computer, but I left them at my parents' house ... which happens to be on the other side of the world (literally).
However, I also kept the "recovery partition" intact, I was hoping I could somehow boot off that, but I don't know how.
I've tried holding down the zero, F2, F8 ... any other ideas?
Otherwise, is there another way I do it from a live CD? (like the one I'm currently using to write this message)
chris.

Unfortunately you will not be able to access recovery files. It can be done if notebook has “factory settings” only. You use “modified” system with two operating systems. If you want to have “factory settings” again you can have it with usage of recovery disc only.
I don’t know how long it takes but maybe you should contact your parents and ask if they can send you recovery disc as soon as possible.
Other way you need to use Microsoft installation disc for clean OS installation. It can be also good solution for few days until you wait for original disc.
