i recently did something stupid... installed windows xp over a windows vista computer...
anyway ive messed up but now on this windows xp Toshiba Satellite L300-PSLB8A-0D5004 i am missing some drivers.... i was wondering if anyone could give me the correct driver links so i could download them please....
the following drivers are missing:
ethernet controller: PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8136& SUBSYS_FF661179& REV_02\4&38F101EE&0&00E0 ethernet controller: PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_001C& SUBSYS_7128144F& REV_01\4&318470AD&0&00E1 modem device on high definition audio bus: HDAUDIO\FUNC_02& VEN_11C1&DEV_1040& SUB SYS_11790001&REV_1002\4&1760F043&0&0101 Video Controller: PCI\VEN_8086& DEV_2A43& SUBSYS_FF671179&REV_07\3&B1BFB68&0&11 Video Controller (VGA compatible) : PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2A43& SUBSYS_FF671179&REV_07\3&B1BFB68&0&10
when i go to run and type msinfo32 then expand the components and check the problems for the ethernet controllers it says this device is not configured properly and for the res it says the drivers for this device are not installed. also there is 1 UNAVAILABLE uninstalled drive it has a PNP ID number if anyone wants it.
please can anyone help.... i need these drivers urgently....
on the driver link you gave me there are 2 atheros wireless lan stuff...
1)atheros client utility WLan 22.214.171.124.0 Windows XP 12.22 MB
2)Atheros Wireless LAN Driver Wireless LAN 126.96.36.199.0 Windows XP 19.87 MB
ok so i downloaded both.. tried connecting wirelessly and go a blue screen error. computer shut down....
turns on fine.,...
i went to CMD and typed IP config.... i get an ip address subnet mask and default gateway... but i also get a part that says Media State...............................................Media Disconnected
Out of curiosity, have you installed WXP SP2 or SP3?
I cannot believe you are not able to install these drivers and cannot understand what are you doing wrong. I have installed WXP, Vista or Win7 many times following install order and everything went well. If there is some problem then with Toshiba stuff but not with “basic” hardware drivers.
but which one is the lan one and which one is the Wlan one?
Generally speaking you must not identify certain hardware before you start driver installation. All you must do is to install right driver. Problem is that you don’t know which WLAN card is inside. Unfortunately I was not able to find specification for your notebook. It is Australian model. I use European models only.
Anyway, atheros client utility must not be installed. For WLAN configuration you can use Windows settings and you don’t need this utility. All you must install is right WLAN driver.
tried connecting wirelessly and go a blue screen error
After atheros driver installation have you checked device manager again? Is atheros WLAN card listed here? Is your WLAN card enabled properly? Is WLAN LED on?
I have checked download page posted by assex. All WXP stuff is listed there including wired LAN and WLAN. I cannot understand you cannot install t properly. Somehow I think you have screwed up something. In my opinion you should reinstall WXP again and start to install drivers using install order posted by assex.
so one of my ehternet contollers were realtek and the other one will be atheros,,,, but which one is the lan one and which one is the Wlan one?
You searched only for VEN ID (vendor id) but ven_id shows you only the chip manufacturer. If you would search for DEV_ID (device id) you will get details about the chip/device.
However, I think the Atheros is WLan card and Realtek is LAN card.
The Intel 8086 (ven_id) is display/graphic chip.
You tried to install Atheros Client Utility and Atheros driver. First of all the driver should be installed at first then utility!
modem device on high def audio bus
High Definition Audio Bus is sound driver! Its from Realtek too. So you have to install the Realtek HD (high definition) audio.
But Win XP requires the installation of SP3!!! So you have to install SP3 BEFORE Realtek HD (high definition) audio.
