Black Screen - Mouse Cursor - wont boot any further

Hi -

Windows 7. Try to boot but gets stuck with Black Screen of Death and also shows moveable mouse cursor.
Try Product recovery disc but ends up with same screen.. Try looking at Hard disc on external docking station and cant read the 'Local' disc - but can see HDD information.

How do I get the Product Recovery disc to reload onto the Hard Disc?
My guess is that the recovery disc is trying to write information to the hard disc - but cant access it.

Anyone think that might be correct?

Hello Oscar

Which notebook model do you have?
Have you created recovery DVD?
Is recovery installation finished properly?
Do you have this problem now at first start after recovery installation?
Can you start OS in safe mode?
How do I get the Product Recovery disc to reload onto the Hard Disc?
As far as I know there is no mechanism to “force” recovery disc to do this.

All you can do is to set BIOS to default settings and try again.

I cannot say for sure but somehow I think your HDD is troublemaker.

Could be possible that HDD is faulty.
I would recommend testing the notebook with an new HDD connected to the internal SATA controller.

How do I get the Product Recovery disc to reload onto the Hard Disc?
Simply: boot from the recovery disk… if the notebook would boot from the Recovery disk but is not able to access tre HDD then this means that something is wrong with the HDD.

Just on regular way. You cannot force OS to be installed on certain HDD. Either it works or not.

Check BIOS if HDD is recognized properly, set it to default settings and try to install recovery image again.
