Tecra P11 cannot communicate with scanner
I replaced my old Tecra A3 with a P11 6months ago. For nearly all this time it has been a lottery if the P11 would communicate with the scanner function (printing was fine) of my Canon MP170 printer/scanner. The only reliable way I had was to system restore back to the purchase date -> do the scanning -> undo system restore. What a pain!
That printer was showing it's age so I've bought a new Epson. Same problem, the computer can talk with it to print but can't communicate to scan. I've changed USB cables and ports, done everything Epson has suggested but to no avail. Epson's last advice to me was 'it must be a computer issue'.
Anyone else had a similar experience? More importantly, did you solve the problem? I've no desire to go back to the system restore merrygoround.

It is really strange and the whole story is “illogic” for me.
How it can work with factory settings but later not? What happen meanwhile?
Last month I bought big HP device with printing, scanning and coping function. I use it with my Tecra A11. The whole configuration was finished in 10 minutes. I’ve tested functionality with USB cable and also using WLAN connection. No problem at all.
In my opinion most important thing is preinstalled software that you get from the manufacturer.
If Epson think it must be computer have you asked what it can be. I mean they should have enough experience with own product and they have tested software that they offer.
Unfortunately I cannot help you with this but I will follow this thread to see what the problem was.
If you will be able to find a solution please let us know.
