Your question is pretty confusing.
Can you please post exact notebook model name and model?

Do you need new AC adapter or what?

Toshiba notebooks use either an 19 V or 15 V Ac adaptor.
You should check firstly the specifications of your notebook before connecting an AC adaptor.
But I would always use AC adaptor supplied with the notebook or a original part recommended by Toshiba

sorry for not furnishing details earlier.
Notebook details:

Model Name : Satellite Pro M70
Model No : PSM75E-00D009AR
other info : DC, 19V , 3.42 A

I had a problem with my adapter,so got it replaced from a computer center.
Got an AC adapter for 19 V,3.42 A.
My system is up and running fine now.

Found that at the back of the notebook, beside the 19V,3.42 A details,DC was mentioned.
So am curious to know if I should have gone for DC adapter, checked with the engineer at the computer center,I was told its not a problem to use AC adapter.

Would like to know if its ok to use AC adapter or better to go with DC adapter.

My notebook battery is DC,could AC adapter charge a DC battery.

Thanks,
Arun

The Satellite Pro M70 supports an 19V AC adaptor.
You want to use the 19v,3,42 A AC adaptor. Right?
Well, its compatible and should work

Not sure what battery you mean exactly… the notebooks main battery is charged while AC adaptor is connected…

Main battery model number is :PA3465U-1BRS, DC 10.8 V ,4000 mAh

-battery doesnt get charged when power source is on
-would the reason be since the battery is dead,or would it be because AC adapter could not charge a DC battery

Thanks,
Arun

Hello Arun

On this virtual way it is not easy what the problem is but, in my opinion, either battery is defective or there is some problem with power supply electronic on mainboard.

AC adapter send electricity to the power supply electronic. What happen later has nothing to do with AC adapter itself. Due to this I don’t think there is some problem with AC power adapter.

Hi Macius,

Thanks for your response.

Found the battery defective, got it replaced.

Got one question.
As I couldn't find an original battery in my locality,I have got a compatible battery, would like to know the risk involved in using a compatible battery instead of original one?

I was told by the service center engineer ,compatible one has only six months warranty as compared to one year warranty of original one.I was also told there is no risk in using compatible one.

Thanks,
Arun
