I had noticed over time the netbook had been getting slower & slower. I also noticed the system file was showing as high memory usage (circa 160,000) but low cpu.
As there was no virus etc, I couldnt find the answer so decided to use the HDD recovery to factory settings. The Netbook was only being used for casual internet & had no saved pics or files etc loaded.
Anyway, I pressed F8 (i believe) & followed the factory reset instructions.
Was going ok & left machine to do its thing.
Someone came along & turned machine off - mid reset.
Now when i turn it on, i get the following message:
windows could not statr because the following file is missing or corrupt:
Please re-install a copy of the above file.
in fact, when i go in via f8 safe mode etc... they all go to this message
And what do you get for the £30 - is it all the factory settings & machine installs that it came with ?
Yes. It is recovery image that contains operating system, all necessary drivers, Toshiba specific tools and utilities and also some additional software.
When you install OS using this disc you will have “factory settings” again and HDD recovery installation will works again.
If possible try to obtain external optical disc drive (USB connection). It will be easiest and fastest way to use this disc.
