Satellite L750/04K - Touchpad intermit loss of scroll function

Satellite L750/04K laptop intermittantly looses abiliy to scroll with touchpad but remains ok for movement around screen.
Scrolls ok if I use external mouse.

Can fix with a restart. Has been working ok for about 4 months previously. Any suggestions appreciated.

Hi

As I understood you message: the touchpad is working properly but only the scroll function does not work. Right?

In such case I would recommend checking the option in Control Panel -> Mouse
Here you will need to switch to last tab and go to Advanced Settings.
Usually, there you should find the settings for touchpad:

Thanks for your reply.

The OS is Windows7 which is slightly dif to your diagram, but I found the touchpad settings & appear ok. I have not changed any settings.

Has worked ok for past 3 days but previously lost scoll function on 3 occasions over a week & had to restart to restore.

Do u think updating the Synaptics driver (currently V7.2) would do any good if another failure?

Hi

It could be useful to update the touchpad driver.
Not quite sure why this happens with your notebook but the advanced touchpad options (scrolling etc…) are controlled by touchpad driver and I think it’s worth to update the touchpad driver.

The drivers for this unit could be downloaded from Toshiba AU page:

Still experiencing int'mit loss of scroll function(up,down & left,right). 3 or 4 times/week (annoying!)

1.Only occurs with IE9, various web sites, none in particular.

2.Can restore function by exiting & then restarting IE9. Then go to same web page that problem occured & is OK.

3.Have done a 'Restore Advanced Settings' & a 'Reset IE Settings' in Internet Options Advanced. Still int'mit problem.

4.Synaptics touchpad software installed is Version 15.2.11.1 (the same version downloadable from the Toshiba website)so I don't think uninstalling & then reinstalling the driver would make much difference.

Any suggestions appreciated, very annoying problem

Possibly its not a touchpad driver/software or hardware issue but it’s just a IE9 issue.
Try this with other internet browsers like Firefox or Chrome.

Thanks Paolo30, will try Firefox, let u know. I also have a second Toshiba laptop C650D ,Win7, IE9 with which I have experienced no similar problem. Puzzling!
