New hard drive installed on Portege M200 but won't boot

I upgraded the hard drive in my Portege M200 from 4GB to 80GB using Parted Magic to clone the original drive. The cloning completed successfully, but instead of booting up with the new drive, the M200 just displays a blinking cursor when powered on. Any help is much appreciated.

Hi there

Maybe You can try one of the below to fix your problem:

BUT!! ALWAYS keep a backup!!

Boot system up with a DOS floppy (with fdisk.exe inside) to restore MBR by typing

fdisk /mbr

This works even on a SATA disk. Alternative boot up any Win2k or XP installation CD, go to the recovery console and issure command

fixmbr

Sounds like the Clone was not performed properly. Try using Clonezilla to clone the drive.
