Satellite Pro C660-21D: question regarding partitions on the HDD

Hi
I have just started to use my new Satelite pro c660-21d
My desktop has drive c,d,u,s
C being windows 7, D Vista
The U drive is 342 meg in size
I did not want the drive in two 230 gig disk so without thinking shrunk drive C to 70 gig and drive D to 10 gig (this is the recovery primary partition
I now have two empty partitions of 170 Gig (from drive c)
and 214 Gig (from drive d)
But windows will only allow me to add one as a user drive
it says can not have more than 4
The reason being there is a Active recovery partition with no letter.
I can not unshrink either drive C or drive D so i am left with 170 gig of unused space.
I suppose one way would be to lose the 10 gig data disk which contains the recovery software but then i have no backup.
Any suggestions as to what i could do to get round this problem.
I am now running the Create recovery disks (2 of them) so maybe i could remove one of the partitions after.

I am not sure why it was replied to instead of edited but if the recovery disk creation completes with nor errors what can i remove from the hard disk?

After running the recovery discs the disc contained two equal partitions drive C & D
but did not contain the driver for the wireless lan for some reason
no problem just downloaded it from the web site when i found out what model it was
had to use the properties of the unknown device to find out what driver i needed
