Notebook NB 500's slow response.
Do you have a tool to improve performance? At least if the adapter is connected.

You should uninstall and/or disable some software services pre-installed by Toshiba using either PC Decrapifier or Revo Uninstaller. This should not only speed up your startup but also your daily usage of the machine, since it won't have to run so many things in the background.

Also, if you haven't yet, you should look at upgrading your RAM. Up to 2GB of RAM in models with C-30 CPU or up to 4GB with C-50. Beware if you upgrade to 4GB you'll also have to upgrade Windows to a 64-bit supported version, like Home Premium.

Thanks t13rteen. I've tried it. I gradually declining performance 3d mark06 from 820 to 670 points. I wonder if you can not overclock the CPU. Or whether TOSHIBA bios issue which makes it possible.

As far as I know, it isn't possible to overclock laptop's CPUs. Something to do with BIOS limitations.

But you can check this thread for more info, seems pretty complete:

Hi

Generally speaking the notebook CPU overclocking is not advisable due to high risk of hardware damage…in most cases the faster CPU creates more heat dissipation and this leads to higher temperature and finally to automatic shut downs…

So would not try that…
