Hi all,
I was having some slow down issues with my lappie, so checked out Toshiba support for look for any drivers updates.
They was a BIOS update to 2.00WIN with specified an improvement in performance.

My BIOS was v 1.60
I am running Vista and my model number is PSL49E

There were warnings that this update was only for models running Vista and PSL49x - so I thought I was ok.

The update flashed from windows and I a popup dialogue told me a restart was needed.
On restart, I pressed F2 and the BIOS version was showing 2.00
I then exited the BIOS setup and nada!!!!
Black screen, nothing else.
Blue light is on showing power supply, by nothing on HDD light.

Can this be reflashed using FN + F and using floppy usb?
If so, where can I download original BIOS version 1.6

Many thanks for any help
Tonny

Hi

Seems that something wrong has happened during the BIOS update.
Possibly the ROM module has not been flashed properly.
So the ROM module needs to be flashed once again.

The problem is that the Toshiba European driver page provides just the Win-based BIOS version and this can be updated only from Windows OS.

But I found the traditional BIOS on the Toshiba US page:
http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp

But I’m not quite sure if this BIOS would be compatible with your L40… so in such case you will need to ask the Toshiba ASP in your country for help and for flashing the BIOS using the BIOS crisis disk.
