Satellite P500 - blue screen on webcam every time I try to use Skype

Every time I try to use Skype all I get is a blue screen where my webcam should be. I have checked to see if my webcam is working at all and all I get is web cam iniliziation failed please check camera device and restart.

I have tried this but to no avail. I have also tried to reinstall the camera and update the drivers. Still nothing.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I have been told that if I update the BIOS it might help, but I have also been told that doing this could screw the laptop up completely...

In front of me I have Satellite P500 and I use it almost a year now. Since day one I use it with original preinstalled Win7 and Skype.
Until now I dint have one single problem with cam or Skype. Everything works properly.

Do you use original preinstalled OS? Since when you have noticed this problem?
Can you use cam with other applications?
Is cam listed in device manager?

yes this is the origional operating system, i have had the laptop for approx 6 months,,
no the camera doesnt show up in the device manager
and no the camera doesnt work with any other programs, i have tried it also with msn messenger.
and this is the first time i have tried to use the webcam also
