Well, with the bios 1.70 and the latest WHQL Nvidia 301.42 drivers the throttling appears again but now only if you overclock the GPU... Interesting move((( if you stay at defaults, you wont have problems( so long my 905/1600 clocks(((((((

I can't even get 301.42 to work properly, driver crashes right after welcome screen (display goes black and stays black and only way out is through power button and then uninstall in safe mode).
I've read somewhere there will be another WHQL driver this month.

yes, i have the same problems at the windows startup, but if you wait a little bit it shows the screen... strange... sometimes it starts fine some not( waiting for other WHQL, but i dont think that the issue with the overclocking will be gone..(

I found this thread yesterday and got my hopes up skyhigh finally thinking i'll be able to play without the FPS-drops.

So I installed BIOS version 1.10 as MaciekPL suggested, but I stil haven't got rid of the throttling. Now it actually throttles in lesser games aswell such as Starcraft 2, which it didn't earlier. The GPU temperature seems to go unusually high while playing games aswell for some reason.

What Nvidia drivers do you run along with BIOS v.1.10? I'm currently running the latest 301.42 version, maybe thats the problem?

Okay now i'm getting seriously worried. Yesterday night while playing World of warcraft for the first time on this computer, it suddenly crashed after ~1 hour playtime. Since the temperature was 90 degrees last time i cheacked, I can only assume that was the reason (a Nvidia GTX 560M getting to 90 degrees from playing wow which is using graphics from like 7 years ago is just mindblowing). After the crash occoured I couldn't start my computer for about 20-30 minutes (It probably had to cooldown before it could start up again)

I'm currently using version BIOS 1.10 together with the nvidia version 296 as was suggested here. Ever since i downgraded my BIOS I had even bigger problems in games than before. I'm seriously running out of ideas and hopes to ever get this computer to work properly. Any suggestions?

Beside of that I can't express how disappointed I am in spending all this money on a new gaming laptop which can't even handle games like wow and starcraft 2 without giving me a hard time.

The product name of my laptop is Toshiba Qosmio x770-11N. Seems like most poeple have other versions according to this thread. Its purchased in Sweden anyhow.

I updated back to BIOS 1.70 today, and i'm still having problems. The gpu temperature goes insanly high (85-90 degrees celcius) from playing games like world of warcraft and starcraft 2. I'm starting to wonder if my hardware is working as it should...

Have Throtteling again with Bios 1,70 and 301.42. Temp in Skyrim HD edition ~80 degree.

I wrote to the support. they sad: Recover and flash again. AND (thats fucked me soooo up) USE THE DISPLAY DRIVER FROM THE HP. I mean hello it's a Jurassic Driver "268.51". With this driver skyrim laggs to hell. They sad if throtteling again with this setup I can bring it in...

I downgradet it to 1.10 again... it works...

Sry for my bad english.

Just wanted to let everyone know that the bios 1.80 &1.70 is throttling with NVIDIA driver (301.42 WHQL).
Nvidia driver 296.10 is stable for Bios 1.70 and 1.80 (no throttling).

So far I havent tried the beta drivers.

I can confirm that BIOS 1.7 and 1.8 works good with the v.296.1 drivers (No throttling)

Furthermore, I solved my previous throttling / crash problem (As i described earlier in this thread) with cleaning my GPU fan. It turned out I had pretty big and solid dust particles stuck in the ventilation canal (preventing hot air from properly being blown out of the system). And if the GPU reaches temperatures above 95 degrees celicius the system will automatically shutdown to prevent hardware damage (No matter what BIOS you're using)

I therefore strongly recommend cleaing the GPU fan on regular basis. Even if you're stationed at a non-dusty area, there's always small dust particals in the air that eventually will stack up around your fan / vent canals and cause you temperature problems in there future.

with 1.8 bios and 296.10 gfx driver this worked for me aswell, i did a stress test with furMark just to see how it would go with the clock speed and temperature. i did it for 20-30 mins and the temperature was at 90 when i stopped, still rising slowly though.
i guess cleaning the fans etc will help alot there.
i did however get a little lower fps than i did with the 301.42 driver. but hey, atleast the throttling is gone.

did a new test where i overclocked the card a bit, just to see how it handled, it started throttling at 93c (when crossing to 94c) but only for 1 sec or so to stop the temperature rising. it did this continuesly but in a much better way, totaly acceptable. not often you reach those temperatures and it will prolly take the card ages to get that warm without overclocking. (if i have understood things right)

(english is not my native language so its a bit bad)

BIOS v1.80 + 306.23 WHQL drivers + OC 900/1800/1550 = throttling in Max Payne 3. GPU temperatures are as usual (68-73°C).
That's sad since new drivers seem to add some real performance boost (300+ points in 3D Mark Vantage, more than any other driver so far).
