That would be great if it's true. Ultimately, they'll have to fix this throttling issue someday, it's too big flaw to ignore. And hopefully they won't forget Hynix VRAM this time around.
The packaging box of this "gaming notebook" says: "Recommended by SK Gaming". What it doesn't say is that Toshiba is one of their sponsors...
What I don't get is why throttling sometimes kicks in when GPU temperature is well below 60°C, but other times it's ok with 70°C? And what is wrong with any temperature below 80°C in the first place?
Just trying to figure out what were they thinking...

I have the i5. I called support today who have not heard a thing, OR, their first level techs have been kept in the dark or fill in the blank.....
So! I explained that my return rights will be ending soon and if support does not contact me or address this forum directly, its back to Asus, who also had throttling problems. If we get official OK for the BIOS downgrade, then NP for me. This has been escalated to tier two or three? support
EVERYONE needs to call...):
Cheers!

what is wrong with downgrading to 1.1. BIOS? Why do you think upgrading to the newer BIOS is OK and downgrading can cause problems with TOSHIBA? You are using their official BIOS anywayand this is a normal procedure. If you change GPU voltage or do something like that and fry your laptop you can have a warranty problem but using official BIOS - what is wrong with it?

hello borland,
i've got an e-mail from toshiba. there it is said: if the downgrade causes any damages (for example overheating of the gpu) you might lost the guarantee for the laptop... just a shame. we should take toshiba to court.

that s....cks. toshiba is playing silly bug....er. there is no problems with overheating even with highly OC-ed system and new and old BIOS don't make any difference at all. Also if Toshiba is telling this BS they force us just to revert to the 1.3 BIOS if something goes wrong...

i'll tell you more - even with OC-ed system pushed through Furmark and burn test (probably this is not what you ever reach n real game) temp never goes above 75-76C

Surley you jest? Yea, whats wrong with downgrading to a BIOS made for different chip sets? When is the last time you had to blind flash? Care to post the step by step instructions?
Chances are if you sent in a bricked machine, support would just send you out a working machine. Time is money so why waste it on idiots.
I've contacted four posters who reported higher temps but no other problems found by the down grade.
We have a single heat pipe system, there should have been two. I find the x775 GPU temps are well in control compared to pasts disasters like the 7900GS.
What I don't like is hitting low 90C in my CPU when pushed with a high GPU heat load on single pipe. Using intelburn, I do not go over low 70's testing just the CPU.
So, good Dr., I'm a bit warry of high heat after three long term failures in past laptops, e1705, Gateway FX and old emachines with R10

yep, CPU temp reaches low 90 - true but not staying there 100% of the time. I am not sure how bad it is as some say it's normal and some worry. I still have perfectly working Dell XPS-1730 with Extreme X-9000 CPU OC-ed to 4GGh all the time and SLI GTX 8800M OC-ed as well.
I use it with the cooling pad though but works without as well. It's an old laptop and some people with the similar configbut no OC reported GPU death after several month of usage. There is special forum dedicated to the GPU failure. I've not had a single problem with the system pushed to the limit.
I am afraid we play national lottery and you never know what can bring your laptop to death.I think downgrading BIOS if you know what are you doing is less of my worries

Guys, i downloaded the 290.36 drivers from the laptopvideo2go.com, and with these drivers the 3dvision is not working properly on x770, does anybody have the same issue? And i cant install the newest drivers from this website, it says that my hardware is not supported..
Now i have the 285.79, they work well, but the performance is worse than on 290.36.
BTW I'm testing new clock speeds, 950/1900, core/shaders, 1500 for the memory.
Hope i wont burn my laptop))))

I have downloaded the newest Beta-Driver directly from NVIDIA.. 290.53, and 3dvision works fine.

Indeed, i've downloaded the beta drivers from the nvidia (which i could'nt do before), but the 3dvision doesnt work correctly. The contrast udjasting stoped working(the Fn+F6 and Fn+F7), after sleep mode i have a message that my videodriver stoped answering and was successfully reloaded...
Do you have anything of these issues?
Maybe it's because i didnt delete the previous drivers, and just started to install the newest?
The GPU clock speed is at it's defaults!

I'm having the exact same problem as nvomlehn..
It's SO annoying forking out so much money for a laptop (I travel between Sydney and Adelaide often so a normal PC is impratical for me), and not being able to play the only game I want to.
Have you found any fix to it nvomlehn?
I'm very very annoyed.
