I dont understand your question, luke01...
I have tried 1.30, 1.40, 1.60 BIOSes and they throttle the GPU!!!
The only 1 BIOS that's not throttle the GPU is 1.10!!!!!
Timur, because 1.60 still has the issue, try to play GTA 4,which loads the CPU and GPU a lot, and after 10-15 minutes you will get your throttling on 1.60 Bios!

I wanted to know if you had removed the bios 1.60. If you are with what you've done the downgrade?

No more throttling for me so far!
I've tested (both default and 900/1800/1550 GPU clocks on 290.53 drivers): Crysis 2 (ultra on 1600x900 and extreme on 1920x1080 for 15+ minutes), Battlefield 3 (all maxed out for 30+ minutes) and 3DMark Vantage (no throttling during graphics tests while overclocked to 900/1800/1600 - previously I haven't been able to finish the test without throttling no matter what I do; btw, GPU score was 9771).
Also, max. GPU temperature I've reached was 65° or 66° C (though that's with cooling pad underneath, haven't tested without it).
In all tested scenarios, with BIOS v1.40 I would rarely see throttling on default clocks, but it would kick in right after overclocking, no matter the temperatures. I'll report back if I experience throttling with v1.60!

It seems like some of you guys like spending most of the time fiddling with BIOS and drivers instead of sticking with stable BIOS, driver and OC-ed values and enjoying gaming full time! I can confirm that I have no issues with 1.10, latest certified driver and all games and tests with no throttling. Of course it would be nice if Toshiba would have fixed all throttling issues win 1.60 release but it seems it’s not the case. So what is the point jumping from 1.3 to 1.6 and back and fiddling with drivers? Throttling is the BIOS problem and it’s very unlikely you can fix it with swapping GPU drivers. So stick with 1.10 for now and enjoy your laptop! It’s awesome!

..because it is not on the "3D SKUs" in 1.6? Anyone wanting to see instant throttling from 1.2 upward..run Furmark;)
Really , this is sad. I'm now more convinced that Toshiba screwed up with a single heat pipe laptop. At least my dinky i5 is not so hot at full bore by 10 watts?
OT
Can anyone help me install the beta 290.53 international? I keep getting hardware not found as if it's checking for my Nvidia hardware ID against list.
I used add/remove to delete old drivers then re-started in SAFE mode..same thing. I wanted to check for improved frame rates listed.
Any help.. TIA!

The problem, at least for me, is Hynix VRAM support that wasn't there until v1.40 (and my machine came with v1.30 out of the box?!).
I have explained a few pages earlier that with v1.10 (or any BIOS version prior to v1.40), I would get strange artifacts all over the screen after doing even slight overclock (I'm talking about a few dozen MHzs here) and that would crash my GPU altogether.
That's why I can't stick with v1.10 and, unfortunately, all the other version (up to v1.60) have excessive throttling problem. So, what's that "stable BIOS" for me?
I'm glad you have no problems whatsoever, but I'm in a different boat here... I'm not some kind of testing freak, but yes, I feel bad for not being paid from Toshiba for using their machine mostly for testing purposes doing their job (that should've been done BEFORE releasing the product, but who am I to teach them...).

Did you try to download the beta drivers from the official Nvidia web site?
But for me, the latest beta drivers dont work correct on my qosmio x770-107. When i turn 3dvision on, the contrast options doesnt work(the Fn+F6, Fn+F7 buttons), and sometimes when i go to watch a 3d movie, the laptop goes for reboot... which doesnt happen with the latest certified drivers...

And yes, I got throttling with v1.60 while playing Battlefield today... It's still here though much less pronounced.

Yes, as stated these are beta drivers. I read that the betas will install ..but not! I was going to try to edit the inf file but I'm way out of practice.
One guy said he did a clean install. If the drivers are using hardware ID, I'm not sure how this could work if Nvidia changed the files.
I only have Optimus, no 3D. At this point I don't understand why Toshiba makes this so difficult. As long as we have a way to roll back driver..what am I missing?

You might want to drop back to 1.1 but do not OC? Not every GPU/CPU likes OC.
I'm kicking myself in not getting the Asus, while tech support is marginal, like Toshiba, the user base is very active and huge. This makes it better to find work arounds, no?

I have read all the throttling issues in this threat. I've just bought a X770-11C which has exactly the same problem. Currently I'm thinking I should have bought the "Dell" Laptop that was on my mind.
I wrote the problem description to the Toshiba support and they surprised me with sending me the 1.6 BIOS which is not working either.
The problem with sticking to a perfect running system is, you need to have one in the beginning.
My X770 came with BIOS 1.4 and the downgrade to BIOS 1.1 will affect the guarantee I have on my brand new system. This is what CS told me.
So what is the solution? Return the laptop or hope for a better future? Toshiba was my first choice for the last two Laptops I bought, number three is now a failure. So far I'm very disappointed, since the CS did not answer my questions I asked in my email....
TOSHIBA !! it's your turn to satisfy some customers.....

Sorry, my english is to bad, please translate this Text with google.
translated:
I've solved the problem for now throttling, as I have throttled with the help of Inspector Nvidia GPU clock at 700 Mhz. Since there are no problems when playing (Old Republic, Crysis 2, etc.)
3DMark 2006 is now put 14 100 15 800 instead of points. That to me is just a temporary solution, Toshiba should respond quickly.
