Satellite P200 - product recovery doesnt start

Hey

I will explain my problem as short as possible :

Together with my laptop I got a product recovery cd, which I used. After starting the laptop, I pressed f12 and selected the cd/dvd in the following window. So far so good, windows started to load the files. Now here comes my problem : After loading the files, nothing happend. There was a black screen during a long time. I tryed it a few times, but everytime the same problem.

I hope somebody could help :)

something to add: its the same problem, when I try to repair computer

f8 -> chose "repair computer" -> windows loading files -> blackscreen

Is there anybody, who got a solution for this problem?

Do you use self created DVD?
I don’t know what the problem can be but somehow before HDD activity starts everything blocks. Maybe the HDD is troublemaker.
Anyway, set BIOS to default settings and test it again.

Try to obtain original Microsoft installation disc and check if windows setup will have full access to the HDD.
Please post some feedback.

First of all, thank you for your fast reply.

I didnt create the cd by myself, it was delivered togteher with the laptop.
Can you tell me how to set BIOS to default settings?
I will try to get an original Microsoft disc as soon as possible. Is it important to use an disc with Vista or can I try any operating system?

Enter BIOS using F2 at start-up. Later press F9. Everything is described in the menu on the bottom of the screen.

If possible obtain Vista or Win7 installation disc. WXP can be problematic due to missing SATA driver.

Ok by changing the BIOS settings the problem dint solved.

Sorry for asking this, but I am not very talented in using a computer:
How do I check, if the windows disc has full access on HDD ? (I got a windows 7 disc now)

If you boot from the MS Win 7 disc and if the HDD is not visible in the setup procedure then this means that the Win 7 cannot access the HDD

I hope you can imagine my problem now. Did anyone tryed one of these solutions written in the answer and tell me, which one is the best?

Can you install Win7 or not?

I don’t have time to read other thread but if you cannot install Win7 using Microsoft installation disc there can be some problem with HDD.
but I am not very talented in using a computer
That’s the main problem here. We can discuss here for days but I don’t know if you will understand some basic stuff here. So my advice is to contact someone who can help you with this.
