Hello Maxxy,
Stay away from x770 and ones like it... And I am not sure that ASUS g74 will be any better. Maybe check MSI or just go for Alienware for true gaming experience...
No wonder that SK sponsored team is playing old Counter Strike in qosmio x770 commercial (Check it on youtube).
X770 is just a pumped up media centar notebook, far from gaming beast.
And I can only say that you are lucky that you checked this before you buy a new notebook. Unfortunately you had a bad experience with last one and now you can proove that nothing's changed. Toshiba is still neglecting this driver problem as they did it in past.
Cheers and tell us what new notebook you decided to buy.

Came to this forum after searching for a possible solution to update my nvidia driver on my toshiba. Seems like there won't be any solution till someone from toshiba actually is going to do some work. I am not good with computers, so the workaround is kind of confusing to me.
Having said that, I didn't pay good money so that I can play around with settings to achieve something that should already be functioning the way it should. If there is any driver update, as a customer, I should only be clicking on the "update" button and voila a working computer as it was intended.
Went to nvidia's website, and "Compal%2FToshiba requires that you download the driver for your GPU from their support site." popped when i clicked on the "scan your gpu" button. So I can't get an update from nvidia, cos a "forced" update won't function properly.
To me, the less tech-savvy person, it is down to Toshiba to improve on their after-sales service.
If you intend for your customers to get updates from your site, then UPDATE your services.
My only conclusion is, their target is only to get more people to buy their products at the cost of not giving proper customer support.
Which is quite sad, because this will lead to bad reviews and ultimately a "NO" recommendation when someone asks about Toshiba.

With the new Nvidia Beta release for the Battlefield 3 Beta I finally gave it a shot at installing. I ran the install for the driver anmd at a certain point my screen went black. I left it for a few minutes to see if anything would change and then just did a power reset.
All came back on and it seemed like the drivers installed according to system devices. Tested the 3D with the default 3D pics in the picture folder and it didn't want to work. I decided to install a 2nd time.
This time the screen stayed on the whole time and I saw the installation complete itself. The 3D worked on the pics. I played Left 4 Dead 2 in 2 and 3D, Battlefield Bad Company 2 in 2 and 3D, Dead Island 2 and 3D and most importantly Battlefield 3 ran just fine as well (did not try 3D). Not aware of any heat problems or loss of any features I use.
Colour me happy.

Yes I can confirm BF3 beta works with new drivers smooth. Didn't try the 3D mode.
But it is not possible to configure or setup game preferences. Game just runs automatically so we are not able to see in what resolution and other setup we play the game.
Also annoying thing is after each round you have to press ALT+ENTER to go to fullscreen mode :?...
Anyways seems like it works for now. Considering heating I have as I mentiond earlier cooling pad so I turn it ON to full throttle.
Cheers!

On Battlefield 3 you just hit Esc while in a match and you can change settings there. I believe you can make the full screen permanent selection as well.

Heya Knorp.
2 ways.
First is going to the nVidia control panel by simply right-clicking on your wallpaper screen. Under the Program Settings tab, select a program to customize. Your favourite game for example. Then select the preferred graphics processor for the program. This will make the program run on the selected gpu everytime you double-click on the program icon.
Secondly ( the way I usually do it ), right-click on the program you want to run, select "Run with graphics processor", then choose which graphics processor you want to use.
Oh and you can also go to the nVidia control panel from here.
hope it helps.

Honestly, if you install the drivers from the nvidia website, you will probably and most likely overheat your gpu and burn it in the end.
Have seen it on other brands, so why should Toshiba be any different. If you do a search in the forum, you will find similar posts about drivers from Toshiba being TRIMMED to be able to run without overheating the gpu.
Now actually trimming them isn't all that hard to do, they lower the clock rate, set it as "standard" and recompile the package to be put on the website. So why all the delay ?
Meanwhile, we are stuck with what they are offering (outdated drivers) and calling support is a waste of time and effort.
My next laptop will probably be other manufacturer as their drivers are updated on a regular basis and they do have some nice gaming laptops as well for an affordable price.
This Toshiba has cost me aorund 2500 euro at the time, thinking it was a very nice purchase and probably with some good support (days of the Tecra!), but none of that for this Qosmio series. I am starting to think they really don't care about the "gamer" community. Why should they, business laptops are more interesting, bringing in more money and so support is directed to that line.
Stop making "gamer" laptops I would say.... it almost looks like an elaborate scam.
Sell the product, forget about the product, make the NEXT product. (Marketing strategy)
Sad ....
