NB550 - Space bar problem

Hello all,

I bought a NB550 2 months ago and I'm quite happy with it except for one thing: I have a problem with the space bar.
If I hit the space bar on its edge or don't press hard enough, no space is written... So I can't write quickly, and it hurts after about an hour of typing.
I have this problem since I got the netbook and don't have problem with any other key.

Can you all confirm that you got that thing too with this computer, or should I sent it for repair/replace keyboard?

Hi Newmagic,

I don’t have NB550 in front of me but I think the space bar should work as other keys as well. If you are still not sure about this go to an authorized service provider in your country and ask the guys for help. The guys can check the keyboard and compare it with other NB550. If the keyboard is not working properly they can exchange and during warranty time it’s free service for you.

Do you know where you can find nearest ASP?

Thank you for your reply but no, I don't know where I can find an authorized service provider here... (the list on the Toshiba website give no answer for France). But I will try it again later.

I looked again at my keyboard and I saw a little band of caoutchouc under the space bar that is a little "unglue". Maybe that's the problem, but I'm not sure (can't take picture of it right now).

I would really like to know if anyone having this computer (NB550) is experimenting the same issue?

Thanks for you reply.

Yesterday, I went to the shop I bought my computer and looked at the "shown" modele (the computer you can try in the shop).
It had exactely the same "problem" than mine : when you reach the space bar from the right-bottom corner, no space is entered.
So I decided to give away, that's not a really bad problem, when you press the space bar from the center it works great, so I won't send it to Toshiba support.
