Unable to play Minecraft and video card driver error message

I recently purchased Minecraft however the game refuses to load due to the following error:
Bad video card drivers!

Minecraft was unable to start because it failed to find an accelerated OpenGL mode. This can usually be fixed by updating the video card drivers.

I have looked online and the reason is that my graphics driver is not up to date, however because Toshiba use custom drivers I cannot go to the intel website and get the newest one, I know my current one is out of date but there are no new custom drivers on the Toshiba site. Please help!

Hi OzzyAmir,

Can you post what notebook model you have, please?

Generally speaking it’s no problem to install other display drivers but it happens on your own risk because the drivers are not pretested by Toshiba.

The Intel drivers you can install via device manager > update drivers if you click on graphic card. Then choose the advanced installation and choose the driver directory.

Hi there,

I have a Satellite L650-1DG. Will my warranty be void if I install drivers not pretested by Toshiba?

If you install non-Toshiba display driver this can cancel warranty and if something goes wrong with graphic card you claim will not be accepted.

I have got a "toshiba sattelite C660" with "windows 7" When i launch Minecraft i have a error message "HS_her_pid" I search but i not heavy on informatic
...and Mmmmh i not heavy on english.

Hi

If you would google a little bit then you will notice that this issue has nothing to do with the Toshiba notebook.
The minercraft game seems to need the newest version of java.
I found some recommendations in different forums:

Go to %appdata%
Delete .minecraft folder in . appdata folder
The issue could be related to wrong jave too.
In such case you have to download the newest java version using IE 64bit
http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
Note: Uninstall the old version before installing the new Java version

Maybe Mojang support can help with this. They should have best experience with own product.

Hello!
Toshiba have put the wrong drivers on this machine. I eventually fixed it after my son bought one with his christmas money. Just remove all the ATI drivers. Problem fixed. Happy son..... :0)

PS download drivesweeper for free and use it if you don't know how to remove the drivers.

Thank you to everyone who has answered. I have sold the Toshiba and bought a Macbook Pro. I had larger issues with the bloated extra stuff that Toshiba felt compelled to install on the machine as well as other issues. I have literally no interest in their system slowing programmes like their dashboard or Termpora or whatever it was and the minecraft thing was just the final straw. To be honest I haven't looked back since, new macbook operates like a dream and has only what I want it to have, pretty fast too.
