What's new - this is really a good question, still testing, but it looks the battery drain during standby is gone or at least reduced.
A little disappointing that they did not moved to 2.3 (Android 3 is not yet available as open source from google as far as I know). in 2.3 Google fixed a number of major security issues and skype 2 supports (with some luck that it works on the device) video. At least I take this update as a sign that Toshiba has not completely abandoned the AC100.

Hi.

Look here ... http://us.toshiba.com/tablets/thrive/10-inch/

Toshiba does not want to be responsible for it them Toshiba AC100 is not profitable - much easier to sell than new device will support the old device.
In this case I see no problem why not make Android 3 Honeycomb for Toshiba AC100!

They have everything for this purpose!

I love the design of this device (ac100). I have invested in a wi-fi modem so now I have 3G connection whenever I need it. And I have found how to install android market (if you have another android device with support for android market is doable through Astro file manager - just search the web and you'll find the instructions). Still, I am VERY disappointed in this update. The Toshiba market still does not work on my device! That's beside the obvious fact of the lacking support for android market. I am pretty sure that Toshiba abandoned the buyers of this device, only one year after it produced & sold it. What a shame for such a brand!

Nice new toy, however if you look to the spec you find a lot of sensors, etc, though I guess it fullfils googles requirements for 3.0, while the AC100 don't. To adapt you would need the source code as open source, however google has not published it as Honeycomb entered stage this spring. Nevertheless as mentioned 2.3 is available and would bring improvements too, beside the fixing of security issues. Lazy and delayed security patching by the way, is an issue that does not fit a smart or netbook as "always on" device.

Hi people,

I bought my Toshiba AC100 about 2 months ago and I am very happy with it, true to say, a free Android 3.x update/upgrade from Toshiba for the Toshiba AC100 would not be such a bad idea, since 2.2 and 2.3 are getting a bit old now :-P

Even though, managing the Android 2.2 system is (when there is not 3.x update /or you don't wanna mess up your AC100 with some "homebuild" versions) not so bad, the market apps on the Toshiba AC100 are not soo good, I have to agree to that, that is why I deleted them, the Android Market is useless, since the device is not listed there.

However, if you type into Google the following : APKTOP, then you'll be surprised what you can find there, all
the apps (also those from the Android Market) in .apk format, just download then directly to you AC100 or save them onto a USB drive or Hard drive (any computer) to install them later.

I also quietly hope that Toshiba gives us some credit to a Android 3.x update/upgrade, never the less, in the meanwhile 2.2 works fine (to me)

And for those you just want to have the newest Android systems... there are 100 and more Slades with Android 3.x and soon even 4.x out there for you to buy :-D

Any comment to that, feel free to reply, thank you for reading and take care
