Hi

Do you have a Toshiba recovery disk?
If yes, then boot from this disk.
The installation procedure should start automatically and you should follow the instruction on the screen.

If you don’t have such recovery disk, then you will need to use a Microsoft Windows disk in order to install the OS.

The Satellite 5205-S505 is an Toshiba US notebook series and old drivers can be found on Toshiba US driver page:

Hi amadeus,

The installation of operating system is very easy – If you have the Toshiba recovery disk.
Why?
Well, the recovery disk contains an image of factory settings so it will install Windows with all drives and tools automatically. After this your notebook is ready to use and during recovery installation you can relax ;)

So just insert the recovery disk in CD/DVD drive and boot from it. Then follow the screen instructions, that’s all!

Hello

I have just run into problems doing this on a 2450-S203.

The Microsoft web site will not update the XP SP1 I installed from the recovery CDs. I did a special download of SP1a and installed it, and it seemed to install OK.

But when I try to update it, the Microsoft update site hangs.

Have you any ideas?

Hi John

Please don’t understand me wrong but this issue has nothing to do with Toshiba so I think you should check some Microsoft specific forum and try to find some answers there.

If possible try to obtain SP CDs somewhere or download whole update and then start SP installation from saved file.
