Satellite M70-340 screen goes black after BIOS load. Please assist

Hi Totius,

That means after the Toshiba BIOS screen nothing happens anymore or have you tried updating the BIOS? Maybe you can explain this again a little bit more detailed.

The problem is in such cases you can’t do much because it’s hardware based problem.

You can try to remove the battery and AC/DC adapter for at least one hour. Then connect both devices again and try to start your notebook.

Can you enter BIOS settings?
Is HDD recognized properly?

Can you enter Advanced boot options using F8 at start-up and start OS in safe mode?
Can you use HDD as first bootable device (F12 at start-up)?

Check all this “standard” steps and send some feedback.

I cannot say for sure but I think HDD is troublemaker.

If i startup the computer after the Windows 'WELCOME' note appears the screen goes black. I have tried to adjust the brightness, without success.

I did not try to update the BIOS.

I have removed the battery and will report back to you. Thanks for your support!

I have also connected the laptop to a tv screen and then its fine.

Seems somehow the notebook switched to external video output.
Try FN + F5 key combination.
This switches between external monitor and internal notebook screen.

Usually this should bring back the video output to internal display.

Thanks Paolo, I have tried it without success.

After I plugged it into the TV the tv screen was blue. I pressed Fn+F5 and the TV display went on. I again pressed Fn+F5, the tv screen was blue again and my laptop screen black. Could it possibly be a loose wire to the screen? Is there a way I can check it?

Xardas, I have removed the battery - still no success. It seems as if the screen is flickering. It made a 'beep' sound when it came on and again when it went off.

It only happens once when bios starts - only for a brief moment.. Could it be a loose wire to the screen?
