Hello,

Please help- Ive just purchased a nb550d and after reading comments on this forum I upgraded the OS from starter to professional. It went through fine and worked ok after initial installment. I then turned it off and back on later on this evening and it wont turn on. The light is on green put non of the others and the fan is working (loudly) but the screen is blank.

Help? Have a chosen the wrong OS?
What can i do?

Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks
assex

Can you install original OS again that you got with your notebook (original Toshiba recovery image)?

By the way: this small machine runs fabulous with original Win7 starter so I don’t understand why you need such upgrades.

I read that it was best to upgrade as starter is 'scrambled and useless' and i really need it to work well- also i read its best to upgrade the ram and to do that it was recommended to upgrade.

I dont think i can do that? Ive no screen, no dvd drive, it doesnt do anything! It was fine at first but now nothing. ive read on this forum that the same thing has happened to other people and they suggested it was a monitor fault- could it be this? or is it bcus i upgraded it?

Thanks for your help, much appreciated :)

Absolutely nothing. totally blank. if i could get the welcome screen i could at least try a factory restore or something but it wont let me do that as nothing happens on the screen. Its asif the monitor isnt linked to the rest of it. Any ideas? Can an upgrade really cause this? Or is it more likely a fault with the netbook?

Thanks

Factory restore will not work anymore. It works when recovery image is installed and notebook has “factory settings”. After own OS installation recovery image installation cannot be started anymore. You can do this using recovery USB if you have created one.
Try to remove battery, disconnect AC adapter and leave it for a while. Later try to start notebook using AC adapter only.
