Tecra M10 freezes during boot with new OEM battery

Hi everyone

I bought a OEM battery for my tecra and now the laptop freezes during boot (the screen stays black with an underscore blinking) with the battery plugged in.
I have to remove the battery, connect the AC adapater, turn on the laptop and, only after it loads windows, then plug the battery.

Any idea?

In most cases the blinking underscore is related to faulty HDD or RAM issue.
In my case the HDD was faulty and therefore I got similar notebook symptom.

I’m not quite sure where the connection between blinking underscore and the new battery is but the whole computer world is really strange sometimes and many strange things can happen… so maybe the new battery is faulty…

Did you notice this issue with the old battery?
If not, then I would recommend testing other battery… maybe it helps…

When you plug the battery is battery recognized properly?
Can you then also disconnect notebook from AC power supply and continue your work?

I don’t know if this will help but have you tried to update BIOS?

Thank's for your reply.

With the old battery, it works just fine. The new one only has this problem while booting, after that it work fine also.

I'm guessing toshiba block's non-oficial battery on bios....

I don’t think something can be blocked in BIOS. Anyway, is problematic for you to order battery by Toshiba service provider directly?

Updating the bios may resolve the problem. I have to test it.

The biggest problem of ordering a battery from a Toshiba service provider is the price. My boss doesn't accept the cost and I won't pay it myself.....
So we bought a cheaper one.

And you are sure it is OEM (original equipment from manufacturer) battery?
Sorry but if this battery doesn’t work I can just say – bad luck.
Send it back and try with other one.

Yep, refund on it's way.
Best part, they don't want the battery back...

It could be some known problem on Tecra M10...apparently it's just bad luck.
