N550D-10G Is it worth to upgrade RAM and OS?
Posted: 19-Jun-2011 17:25

I'm about to purchase a N550D-10G but am unsure as to whether or not it's worth upgrading the OS to Win7 HP and the memory to 4GB or sticking with Win7 Starter and upgrading to 2GB.

Any advice from anybody who's done either would be appreciated.

Well, more RAM means that your notebook would run faster even if you would use many applications at the same time… so 4GB RAM is a good idea… I would recommend upgrading the memory to 4GB RAM.

The Win 7 upgrade to a higher version is not really necessary if you don’t really need the feutures provided with a higher OS version.

Here you can compare the different Win 7 versions:

Hello

More RAM is always good, especially on Vista and Windows 7. 4GB would be good for Windows 7 if I run some applications. Furthermore RAM is very cheap these days and an upgrade wouldn’t be expensive.

The part number for one 2GB DDR3-1066 module is PA3676U-1M2G.

By the way: If you want to upgrade your OS you can use the Windows Anytime Upgrade. So you can upgrade without reinstalling. :)

Thanks for help guys. I'll certainly go for the RAM upgrade to 4GB and see how things go before considering Win7HP.
